The Walczaks have had to make many adjustments since son Nick was shot Feb. 27 at Chardon High School. After his return home from the hospital in April, various organizations and companies have donated time and resources to help the family adjust to Nick’s new lifestyle. He is paralyzed from the waist down, and although it is hoped that he will walk again one day, no one knows for sure whether it will happen, his step-mother Lindsey Walczak said.Thursday morning she watched as two area companies worked together to lay a new asphalt driveway down at her Munson Township home where Nick has been unable to visit since his return. The previous stone-gravel driveway was prohibitive to Nick’s wheelchair, and the home’s doorway was also too small for him to enter.
