State fines contractor for not having insurance while working on Darien Police station

A Norwalk construction company faces $9,000 in fines by the state Department of Labor for not having worker's compensation insurance for three employees over a 30-day period.

Darien Asphalt Paving Inc. was cited on Oct. 3 for the violation, as was Ernwell Construction, during work on the $14 million renovations of the Darien Police station on Hecker Avenue. Both companies have the same Norwalk-based phone number, with adjacent offices on Woodward Avenue.
